Classical Prime
In 2012 after paying a visit to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, I came up with the idea of trying to combine pop culture icons with classical portrait drawing. My first attempt at this would be to create a piece where Optimus Prime would be posing for a hand drawn portrait. The portrait would have prime standing perfectly straight with his hand resting on his iconic rifle. The piece turned out better than expected and I am very proud of the outcome. The piece was hand drawn in pencil and then hand rendered in Prisma Color colored pencils on Canson paper. The piece is 19" x 19" and took over 80 hours to complete.
